How we have started ?

Concerned over the plight of their community a few tribal youths founded ACSSS in the year 1991. It started social welfare and rural development activities under community development programme in 1990 in 35 villages in Jhabua district. The initial activities included social and cultural programs such as street plays, rallies, songs and puppet plays, etc.
After organising these activities it was realised that it is through education we can make the tribal people aware of the socio-economic and cultural evils of the society and abolish them. It established a primary school in Gadwada village in Gadwada panchayat of Jhabua district to provide free education to children. Later it started a secondary school, which is running till date.ater it started a secondary school, which is running till date.
Later, to make tribal villagers self-reliant, ACSSS started a federation to undertake activities like protection of water, land and forest; environment protection and conservation; agriculture development; lands rights; panchayati raj; village rules; self-help groups; saving co-operative society for women; seed production federation.
At present it is running a five-bedded healthcare unit. It is providing skill development programmes such as iron furniture making and weaving cotton and handicraft, bed sheets, etc. to the men and women from the village community. Water harvesting structure and agriculture – field bund (contour bund) have been constructed to increase water availability, minimise soil erosion and to improve land productivity for sustainable livelihood. Self-governance issues are being addressed at the grassroot level with special focus on strengthening gram sabha along with capacity building of elected representatives.
Through its work ACSSS is making attempts to preserve the tradition and culture of local people. It is striving towards a better quality of life and empowerment of the community.
